Policy Advisor Tse-kang Leng visited the College of Arts and Sciences at Qatar University on behalf of the Foundation

The Foundation has invited Professor Tse-kang Leng from the Institute of Political Science at Academia Sinica to serve as a policy advisor, and he visited Dr. Abdulaziz Ali M. Al-Mannai, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Qatar University on behalf of the Foundation during his stay on May 21. The scholars who also attended the meeting included Dr. Maryam Mohammed Al-kuwari, Director of Gulf Studies Center, Dr. Bahaeldin Makkai Mohammed Gaily, Head of the Department of International Affairs, Professor Saban Kardas, Program Coordinator of Gulf Studies Program, and Dr. Hicham Raiq, Research Coordinator for the Humanities and Social Sciences Cluster. This is the first academic exchange activity of the Foundation with Qatar University. During Advisor Leng’s visited, he specifically outlined the projects that Middle Eastern countries can link to or apply for under the Foundation grant program. They discussed and figured out topics that could be potential areas for future academic collaboration, such as energy security, sustainable development, food safety, and environmental protection. Advisor Leng also expressed to the scholars from Qatar University that he could introduce to them the experts and academic institutions specializing Middle Eastern studies in Taiwan, such as scholars in Department of Arabic Language and Culture, National Chengchi University. The connection could lead to joint research project applications and the organization of small workshops as an initial step towards collaboration. The Foundation is honored to have the opportunity to foster academic exchange among scholars in Taiwan and Middle East.
