The Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI)
The Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI) is a worldwide humanities center and alliance of research organizations. Established in 1988, the CHCI is an international network of humanities centers and institutes, mostly within institutions of higher education around the world. Currently the CHCI has a membership of 208 organizations based in North America, Europe, and Asia (including Taiwan China, Macao, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Korea, and Australia), with several institutes in Africa and Israel as well.
The Foundation and the CHCI are promoting a collaborative program to create an annual summer institute for young scholars on the general topic of “Chinese Studies and Global Humanities.” This partnership will support one summer institute each year for three years beginning in 2016. The summer institutes will invite established scholars from different regions as speakers to share their insights and experiences with participating junior scholars with the goal of creating new interdisciplinary and globalized research that can contribute significantly to the development of both Chinese Studies and Global Humanities.
